This is a three-part workshop series focused on expanding your grant writing skills to build and strengthen your organization. We have partnered with grant writing consultant, Adrienne Livingston. Each workshop builds on the previous one.

Have you ever wished to be a fly on the wall during funding decision meetings, to hear firsthand how funders decide who will or won’t receive funding? Here is your chance to step into the shoes of a funding decision maker. This experience will provide you with unique insights into the decision-making process, ultimately helping you to write stronger, more compelling grant proposals for your organization.

Learning Objectives:

• Understanding Funding Decision Criteria: Gain insight into the key criteria and considerations that funders use to evaluate grant proposals.
• Analyze Real-Life Case Studies: Examine real-life case studies of grant applications to identify strengths and weaknesses from a funder’s perspective.
• Develop Persuasive Grant Writing Skills: Learn techniques to craft persuasive and compelling grant proposals that align with funders’ priorities.
• Simulate Funding Decision Processes: Participate in simulations of funding decision meetings to practice making funding decisions and to better understand the funder’s mindset.
• Enhance Proposal Review and Feedback Skills: Develop the ability to review and provide constructive feedback on grant proposals, enhancing your critical evaluation skills.

Deliverables:

• Training as a Funding Evaluator: Receive training to become an effective funding evaluator, understanding the full spectrum of the decision-making process.
• Hands-On Experience with Real Grant Applications: Engage in the decision-making process from beginning to end using real grant applications, providing practical insights and experience.
• Write a Great for Your Organization: Apply the lessons learned from being an evaluator to write a robust and compelling grant proposal for your own organization.

CFRE-Approved

Our courses and programs can provide continuing education points for the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE). Accelerate Grant Writing Excellence provides 9 points.

The People’s Nonprofit Accelerator is an Approved Provider for the CFRE credential program(this link opens in a new window). Approved Providers are organizations that submitted their programs to CFRE International to review to verify that the programs meet CFRE International’s continuing education standards.

Only those Providers who have registered with CFRE International may advertise that the programs have been pre-approved by CFRE International for Continuing Education Points on the CFRE application for both Initial Certification and Recertification.

Tuition

We offer an accessible sliding-scale tuition fee structure. For those who are able, the Community Builder fee helps cover the costs The People’s Nonprofit incurs to host and develop the training. If you are able to contribute more, please consider the Equity Builder fee, which will increase attendance accessibility to our programming. Tuition levels are based on organizational budget size. Members also receive a $100 discount on any workshop.

• Equity Builder: For organizations with annual budgets greater than $1,000,001.
• Capacity Builder: For organizations with annual budget sizes between $500,001 and $1,000,000, and for individuals sponsoring themselves or unaffiliated with an organization.
• Solidarity Builder: For organizations with annual budgets under $500,000 and for individuals who are self-financing and identify as BIPOC, queer, low-income, with disabilities, and other marginalized identities.

About Our Presenter – Adrienne Livingston:

Adrienne Livingston is from Portland, Oregon, has a dog, Romeo, and has a life value of giving back to community and upholding justice and care. She lives that out through the work she does and as a volunteer with organizations that are serving vulnerable communities. She has served in the role of Director of Anti-Sex Trafficking Initiatives with WorldVenture for 10 years. She has served in the nonprofit philanthropic and grant making community for over 25 years. She currently consults with the Oregon Community Foundation and the M J Murdock Charitable Trust. Adrienne currently serves as a board member for Volunteer of America Oregon and The Lowenstein Trust.

She received her Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, International Business and International Studies from Oregon State University and her Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies from Western Seminary. Adrienne is bilingual in Spanish and English and has traveled to and or lived in numerous countries including Costa Rica, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Lebanon and India. She is a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar to the Dominican Republic.

On the artistic side, Adrienne is an auctioneer and a voiceover actor where she enjoys sharing her voice to bring stories and characters to life in commercials, e-learning, nonprofit videos, documentaries and animation!
